Welcome to OB! I am jealous of your warmer winters...it gets cold in Edmonton

Great to hear from fellow Canucks. It rains a lot here though. But you're right. Winters are pretty mild and with the wet weather it gets quite humid - nice for the chids!

I went mad today and bought 2 more! A tiny Thai jasmine oncidium (?!) orchid with a Dendrobium x on the label which was quickly removed by the vendor when I enquired about the ID and an Chinese cymbidium NOID. Both were so affordable (@ CDN$8), I couldn't resist. In fact it was the pots that cost me an arm & a leg and they were on sale (1/2 price).

I think I've caught the orchid collecting bug from this Forum. :)

TR,

Your oncid. sharry baby really doesn't look to bad. To prevent that fungus from spreading, you might wanna use a fungicide. I don't know what is available to you in your neck of the woods :scratchhead:

Hi Tropical Roots,
Nice looking plants! I'm fairly new also so I can't really help you with the oncidium, and I can't quite make out the leaves, but you look like you have beautiful plants. That Neofinetia looks to be in great condition. Why are you concerned about it? Because it's a special gift that you'd hate to lose or do you think it's not well?
Thanks for sharing with us! kiki-do

:coverlaugh: Oh yeah...you're a goner! Welcome to the club :D

There's no antidote, either, poor thing. Although I did pass up a dendrobium at a Walmart two days ago that was beautiful and reasonably priced. However, the logic was that I needed the money for an orchid auction tonight. What fun!
Yup, no cure! kiki-do

Hi Everyone, Thanks for your empathy and understanding! I've just added some pics of the Oncidium sharry baby which is in full bloom. They're attachments to the latest thread posted in the Onc forum. I guess I'm not a newbie anymore!
