South Africa newbie
Fellow orchid fanatics - The orchid bug bit me almost 7 years ago. It is an absolute joy being in the presence of like minded individuals. Although there is some interest in orchid growing in South Africa, the community is very small . Very little interest or attention is given to the overall experience, unless there are flowers. This leave very little room for interaction and constructive exchange on ideas for the general well being of the actual plants. I have a collection of Oncidiums, including mini oncidiums, one coelygene cristata, a large collection of cymbidiums, one multinopsis hybrid, and som dendro hybrids. All my care and progression in caring for these plants have come from forums like this. None of my orchids (except phalanopsis) are greenhouse grown and are left to grow outside year round.
