I have been raising (sometimes killing) orchids for many years and find I still know very little. I look forward to gaining from other growers' experience.

LOL Marti, I think that's how most of us found our way to OB! I've learned so much in the last 6 months. I think my head must be full by now! Welcome to OB! You'll find a wealth of information and help here.

Default what I grow

Sorry that I have taken so long to reply to your message, Cheryl. I have had more than my share of computer problems and they aren't over yet.

You asked what orchids I grow. Cattleya, Brassia, Dendrobium, Miltonia, Miltoniaopsis and Oncidium. I think I have about 16 in all. My prize Miltonia had 35 blossoms in bloom at Christmas, has lost all but one stem of 5 blossoms and is putting out another flower stem. I will post pictures on this web site as soon as I fix my computer problems.

Default Slippers

I forgot to respond to Lagoon's message on whether I have any Slippers. I have killed several, not sure why, so quit purchasing them. I have vowed not to purchase another orchid of any kind unless I get rid of one that I have. At that time, I may try one again.

Hi Marti, Good to see you back

Oooh that's not good - yes I can see why you wouldn't want to grow them for now.

I'm curious though, What do you think went wrong, too much love? Not enough light?
What kinda slippers did you have .... Paphs, phrags?

Default Paphs

Gloria, I am inclined to think I overwatered them. I have learned since that any orchid that I get from Trader Joe's needs to be repotted asap as the medium is too dense for my normal watering routine. It is the only orchid, after some experience, that I have not been able to grow and after the third one, I figured it was time to stop.
