Don't get discouraged, many of us here re-pot within a short time of recieving new orchids. We have to gear our mixes that work best in our conditions.

For my phrags I use a combo of sphag moss and grade #4 perlite. This keeps them moist and yet allows air into the mix for proper drying.

My paphs - I use a good grade of peatmoss, perlite #2 or 3 and smallish bark. Again keeping things moist but allowing the mix to breath.
Good lighting and air circulation is a must.
