Thus far it's been great! I found the "Even NOIDs need names" post and was cracking up! I'm sad it's an old one, I was thinking up more jokes... *chuckles*

I am new and living in NC as well. I am originally from Miami and feel like I really missed out in orchids while I lived there. As crazy as it sounds I only recently got into orchids due to 2 rescue phals from Lowes too!!!

Haha, that seems to be a steady way to get into it! Who can resist walking by those beauties? Even if they are nameless... I moved here from Alabama last fall and left a prime environment for growing as well! I'm finding plenty of humidity here as of late thought, so I'm sure it will be pretty similar. Welcome!!

Default NC Orchids

Welcome from another NC orchid addict. I'm in Wilmington. Some info for NC addicts:

1. There are some great orchid societies in the state. In the eastern area:

Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem = Triad: Triad Orchid Society

Durham, Raleigh, Carey = Triangle: Triangle Orchid Society |

Fayetteville = Sandhills: index

Wilmington = Cape Fear: Cape Fear Orchid Society

Pay them a visit -- guests are always welcome !!

2. And some great growers / nurseries. Two of my favorites:

The Orchid Trail, Morrisville: The Orchid Trail, Orchids and Orchid Seedlings For Sale

For Paphs - Marriott Orchids, Kernersville: Marriott Orchids* Fine breeder o

Hello from another Raleigh-ite. Nice to know there is someone who understands nearby. Lots of my friends check my medication bottles, or give me that sorta nervous "can this be normal?" look when I start in about my orchids. Have you checked out the Triangle Orchid Society? Only been to two events myself, but like it very much so far.
Cheers
Beth
