Hello from the Garden State
Default Hello from the Garden State

I am brand new to orchids and orchid board. I have successfully pollinated my first two phalaenopsis plants. From my understanding It will take 4-6 months for a seed pod to form. My question is what is a seed pod worth (if anything) and is there anyone out there willing to trade my pods for a plant or two? I live in central NJ.

Glad you found us!

I don't know about seed pod ripening times, etc. Do your Phals have names? I'm sure others will be able to answer your questions

Welcome to Orchid Board Glad you found our forum.

I can't help either on ripening times. Probably best to take a look at our propagation section and ask around there.

As for selling or swapping them, it probably depends whether your orchids are named and if so what they are. I think most folks won't be so interested in a cross of unnamed orchids, but people here do swaps sometimes and someone might be interested depending on what it is. Again probably best to post details in the propagation section to see if anyone is interested.

the seed pods need to be kept steril while shipping so they don't get contaminated. people would buy flasks once you've already germinated them. how is growing in new jersey?? ct sucks cause of how short the days get early in the winter so either orchids don't grow much or you need to substitue with artificisl light
