I grow Onc alliance in coconut husk chips (retains moiture well, and airy at the same time) mix with perlite and/or pumice, tho have also grown in bark - usually small bark chips mix with perlite. Most in this alliance do not want to dry out, so keep the media lightly moist. Most do well with moderate light.
I use bamboo skewers in the media to help judge when to water. Pull out the skewer, touch to your cheek or upper lip - if it feels damp there's a fair amount of moisture in the pot - if it feels cool, tho not really damp, there is moisture in the pot, but probably should water Onc alliance at that point, or just before. Some are really water hogs. If new foliage or growth is coming in pleated, they either need more water, or could be the roots have rotted from too much water.
