I'm James from Malaysia - Orchid Board

Hi, I'm James from Malaysia.
Its a tropical rainforest here and so most likely its one suitable place to have orchids in my region.

But being in the right place doesn't necessarily means that orchids will thrive in my garden.
I had killed many and together with my interest - I told myself not to handle orchids again.
Somehow I manage to sum-up some courage it getting them slowly in my garden.

I'm still learning in keeping my orchids alive.
They have managed to survive for these few years.
Now is the quest in getting them bloomed.

I'm still discovering how to use this orchidboard site.
So - still figuring it out here and there.
Hope to meet near friends who love orchids here too.

Hello James and welcome to the forum. You will meet wonderful and very very knowledgeable people here.

I am so delighted that you didn't give up on orchids and tried again!!!!

Ask all questions that you may have and we will collectively do our best to provide info so you may bloom your first orchid. There is nothing like the excitement.

James, if you can tell us what you are growing and if you have tags with your orchids, that is even better.

Are you able to post any pictures? What are you growing your orchids in (medium)?

Hola.
One bit of advice I'll give you is imitate the conditions where they grow as far as lighting and mounting them to the types of trees they are found growing on in the wild.
Try to select species that grow at similar elevations too.
Over here Acnistus arborescens and Diphysa Americana trees are the best hosts..
Central and south American varieties mounted to those, with good air flow, gives a 100% success rate.
