Read the postings of the members and specifically the "sticky" on Phalaenopsis by Marty...
do not use the filtered water...use directly from faucet if you say you have clean water.
trust your instincts...
your growing zone is: 10b
similar to Miami, Florida

*you can grow vandas outdoors because you have humidity in your atmosphere...you also have very short periods of frost in winter.

I enjoyed my stay in Alicante 4 years ago...in Valencia, Sevilla and Barcelona...unforgattable! I had a BLAST!
Hola Bud,

Thank you for the advice about the watering & I will look up the other members postings especially the "sticky" of Mickys on Phaleanopsis.

We are in Orihuela Costa.Great to know you enjoyed your
stay in my adopted country. Not been to Sevilla but Barcelona & Valencia I have done.Loved them both & now looking forward to visiting Toledo soon.

Hey Betty, as you soon will realize, Phals are very easy orchids to grow successfully. Just take that time to find the right location for it where it get good shade and great light but never direct sunlight.
Also tell me about the medium in which it is potted?
If its in moss i recommend watering once ever 10 days. But to be sure just push your finger down in the moss to check if it is still wet or if it is simply damp to the touch. If only damp/cool to the touch its time to water again. Remember that Phals don't like their roots to be completely dried out before the next watering.
If its a very porous medium that allows fast drainage of water then you will need to water every day. I know its starting to get really warm as summer is upon you in spain, and i know the summers can get quite hot. So I recommend you mist the leaves every morning or even twice a day on those really hot days.
As for fertilizing, use a balanced 20-20-20 fertilizer at 1/2 tbsp to a gallon of water. Do this every other week and you will surely have continuous blooming all year round

And of course Welcome to the board!!!!

Thank you for the welcome & also your advice.
My orchid is in a bark medium & seems to be quite happy at the moment.I have run water through it & let it drain thoroughly before putting it back in situ.It is on a table near the window of my north/northeasterly covered porch. This does not get direct sunlight at all but is bright & shaded.I will spray the leaves as you have advised.
I also have a beautiful red anthurium growing on my porch in a similar position & that is thriving very well so I am living in hope. The orchid is now in full flower as all the buds have opened.
