welcome, I am a new member myself and am giving up pleurothallids here in the s.e., too hot! a few have survived in my greenhouse. I understand you have some great ones up in the cloud forest there! should be a great adventure going there and checking it out! do post pics if you get a chance! good luck with the restaurant!
You can grow almost anything almost anywhere if you have the time and money to do it. Friend of mine grew pleurothallis, mazdevalias and all sorts of cool growing species in Orange Park Florida. It may require more expense to set up than you are willing to pay - but you probably can do it.
I was told that I couldnt grow cymbidiums in Jacksonville Florida. That was 1991 and the collection has grown to more than 2500 and it is a success story.
last year, however, due to outside circumstances, I could not get my wetpads up and running. Was only using cooling mist fans and the greenhouse warmed up to the upper 90's. Some plueros did survive!
