HELLO EVERYONE
Question HELLO EVERYONE

My name is angel i'm new to this form I was given a beautiful moth orchid 6 months ago it is doing good given i'm in penn state i'm organlly from mostsouthern point florida. Now i got another phalanopsis with different markings. Is there anything i can do to give them the best possible conditions to keep them helthy and happy being i'm in a cold and dry enviroment part of the year, i do have them in a large dish with rocks in water and them on the rocks so they can get the humity they require, also indirect sunlight. Will this be enough for them or is there more i can do the make them BIG N STRONG also is it possible to get seedlings from them i need to learn more about them

Welcome to the Orchid Forum. Glad you joined us. Congrats on getting in Penn State U???
Give your Phalaenopsis a daily misiting around the roots, not the crown (top center of the plant where the leaves come out at the top), and your plant should be fine. You can put them on an east or northeast facing window, don't let it get too much direct sun in the morning first couple of weeks, it could burn them.

Hi! Welcome to the OB! I got 3/4 of my orchid knowledge from reading books. It's very healthful to have at least one book in the house.
As for the seedlings, you will have to get them to produce seeds, then flask. (I have NO idea how to flask. I know there is an article on the OB all about it, though!) OR, when they are done flowering, cut the spike right above a notch on the orchid spike. This can produce another show of flowers, too.
