Default Greetings, from Romania !

Excuse me if I do mistakes, but do not know English, so writing and reading, using Google Chrome translator.
I recently received a small Vanda (Kagawara) Fantasy Praya Chao, planted in a substrate that does not inspire confidence and I want to replace
I read that they prefer to grow roots nude - and I want to do the same - or what is best, for her
Please Thank you !

Glad you found us! I don't grow Vandas, but I'm sure other members will have advice for you. Good luck!

Welcome to Orchid Board! I grow my vandas bare root in a wood basket. They need good light but some protection from the mid-day sun. They need to be watered often, either every day or at least every two days.

Welcome!
Glad you have found our forum. We have many experienced people here who can help you with a Vanda. I just bought my first Vanda two months ago so I can't advise as much as I am learning myself. I keep my Vanda in a basket without any medium; water it every morning; fertilize weekly and give it plenty morning sun and dappled afternoon sun. Hope that helps.
Good luck!

Welcome to Orchid Board

Vanda's do seem to do better with bare roots. I tried growing one in bark and it did OK for a year but then it died. I was never happy with how much to water it in bark.

However growing it with bare roots does mean they need a lot of water, I've heard some people use the hosepipe on them every day to soak them in water daily.

Hello and welcome!

I grow all of my Vandas in baskets with a little some coconut husk fibers to help add a little bit of water retention. I do this because the humidity is a bit lower than it should be for Vandas where I live. Bare root Vandas tend to do best in places where there is a lot of humidity. However, you can always suspend the roots in a glass vase to help increase the humidity. I believe the member Bud on here has done this with success, as have other members.

Thank you for your hospitality!
The easiest would be to see pictures (or video) with examples of planting, but difficult to navigate the site. Someone said: "A picture is worth a thousand words" and was right :|
Have a wonderful day!
