I have several questions about orcidss Female
Default I have several questions about orcidss

Hi:

I own 2 orcid plants, which I do not remember what kinds there are. One is a large leafed plant that had 2 shouts of beautiful white flowers with purples centers, the other one is miniture and had pink flowers. My question, is should the flower stems or shouts, whatever they are called be removed? Also I want to know how many times a year do orcids flower and what can I do to help them flower. My plants are setting on my dining room table and get lots of afternoon sun. thanks Marcia

Hi Marcia and welcome to the Orchid Board, If it is possible to see a Picture of them, Someone may be able to Identify them and then they could suggest how to take care of them, There are many different kinds and different likes and dislikes. You have definitely found the right place for answers. If you are unable to post a picture maybe you can go the the gallery and find a picture of one that looks like your (flower or plant type) Might be a start on figuring out what you have.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Glad you joined us.
I would not remove the spikes (flower stems) until the turn brown.
A pic would help more, then we could give specific advice.

Welcome Marcia, to the OB!

Glad you joined us! Please take a picture and post it in a new thread under the identification forum so alot of people could look at them.
If they are not species, it is mainly impossible to id orchids, due to all the prograting out there. I have myself learned this over time, even though I don't care if it was a species, I wanted a name. Now I have come to realize they don't need a name for me to enjoy them. I just number them like this: NOID 1, NOID 2, etc. all the way up to 11
Oh, and if you have questions on posting pictures, please do a search within the forum for pictures and there should be some directions that pop up. If you need more help just let me know!
Again, welcome!
