Default Hello

Hello my name is Alex, I have an addiction. It's Orchids lol

Well gardening in general but orchids are my weak spot, we had a Phal a while ago and i threw it out think it was dead after the 2nd time blooming. The wife has never let me live it down, now that i know better about these beauties. We've started collecting em, were not up to many in the count but as we find room and room in the budget more are a commin.

So far we have 3 phals and a new one were going to buy today at some point so i will post pics later with the new addition to the family. The three we currently have are 2 mini phals and a giant hoax blue one which is dyed and wouldn't of made it into our home if i would of known any better. Just got to caught up in the color to notice the plant as a whole.

Ive learnt a lot so far from the little i have read and i can''t wait to start socializing with others who have the same orchid addiction as we do.

Welcome Alex!
Well, you've come to the right place if you want to socialize with other orchid addicts! Many of us have let the addiction spiral out of control. It always starts out with 2 or 3, so watch out! Next thing you know they'll have taken over the house.... It difficult not to buy more when you see all the gorgeous photos that people post here.

Wow thank you everyone for the warm welcome, I have been enabled already just looking at the members display section.

I have been begging more then my child does when he wants a toy, for one of the new orchids that just came into our local store. They are the healthiest Phals I have seen in a while with 2 mature spikes, multiple branches from the end of the spikes and blooms all over for only 18$!! I paid 30 for my Blue HOAX!!

I will be posting pics of the blooms i have currently, i did try to hand pollinate the big blue one and got 2 buds going but aborted them when i noticed the blue dye going into the seed pod also. I find it's a very unhealthy and unnatural practice to inject dye.
