Welcome to OB! I basically water almost everything twice a week and have a handful that I water daily, all in one place. I've lost my share but most have done very well for me.

I've heard of people putting orchids in a bathtub filled with just a few cm of water elevated on some plastic egg crate when they go away on vacation. I haven't tried it personally though!

I've done something like that with my mounted orchids while on vacation. Not egg crates but a similar idea. Not sure if it helped or not but everyone seemed happy enough when I got home and while I watered them as soon as I got back none of them seemed to suffer the time away.
