Hi From Colorado Female
Default Hi From Colorado

Oops, I think that I went to the wrong place to start.

Hi All, I have been lurking for several months now & finally am taking the plunge. I am living vicariously thru GMDIAZ since we work together. I get to see what she is doing, seeing the pixs, & watching the 'chids grow. We have several 'chids in the office that we are enjoying. We do know what we are going to give for birthdays & Christmas. More 'chids. Much to each of our husbands' dismay. I have just started gorwing orchids. I got started in April of this year when I went to FL to see my newest grandson's birth. Needless to say, there was a "Plant show" in one of the small towns near my daughter. I saw some very strange looking plants that I thought looked wonderful. So, in talking to the gentleman, I asked about growing these in CO. After about 2 hrs in the hot & humid weather, I only ended up with 4 plants. Got back to work & started Gwen looking. Now when we have time at lunch, guess where we go!!! Looking for 'chids. As you can see by my list of what I have, I have no idea what I am doing. Right now, I do not have a flowering plant, but do have new roots, leaves, etc. Right now, I guess I need to know what to do to get these to flower. Any help, suggestions, whatever would be appreciated.

Diane

At long last! I can now say it. . .
Welcome to Orchidboard!

What Diane didn't say, is that we not only work at the same company but we share an office and ur, fertilizer (MSU for RO), bark mix, spaghnum etc. We've got a giant ceiling to floor window and are slowly, step by step. . .so as not to alarm anyone. . .taking it over for our orchids. MUH HA HA!

We sneak on to Orchidboard when we get a chance. We can read AND work at the same time. If one of us is too busy, the other reports on what they're reading. We're amazing multi-taskers. ROFLOL

At lunchtime, we often plan our restaurant choices around places where we can quickly cruise the orchid sections.

So far, between the two of us, we've only got three orchids in our office. I've got two phals and Diane has a dendrobium.

We've also got two really great bonsai trees. These are my husband's, who also works at the same company and shares the same office space with Diane & I. We've also got one SUPER invasive climber with lime green leaves that we've nick named Audrey, after the plant in "Little Shop of Horrors".

We're having a little problem with gnats but other than that all is going well.

to Orchid Board Diane! You and Gwen seem to have a fun time at work! As you probably know, everyone here is so nice and helpful. If you have any questions ask away and I'm sure plenty of people will be able to help. You guys should take some pics of your plants at work. It sounds nice.

Hello neighbors, Welcome to OB. Im also new and I found nice and helpful peeps in the forum. There are lots of information shared in the forum that will help you understand your plants. I thinks you just ask and you will hear from experienced growers. I check fantasy orchids and Paulinos for orchids and supplies.
