Hmm, this was posted in the other thread:

And this link:

Which shows that the tortilis needs full shade. So conflicting!

Welcome Vonnie. It's good to see so many Canadians joining lately: that means that the orchid hobby is alive and well here. I have no experience with this orchid either, but seen that it's winter here, it's almost impossible to get too much sun. I too would repot, or at least find out the condition of the roots. Regardless of the composition of the media it's in now, from what's visible, it's far too fine for this type of plant. Keep us posted.

Thanks everyone, for your help and the welcomes!

I'm going to repot it tonight and see what the roots look like. I'll try to take pictures while I'm doing it and I'll upload them here.

Okay, so after rinsing off the soil, this is what I found:

I trimmed off the rotting, mushy roots. Here's hoping that it makes a comeback. I don't know if I should clip off those two bulbs at the end. The tips are black, but the base is still green. I'm gonna keep a close eye on them.

Well it looks like you have some good roots anyway. I think it should be able to recover. Personally I would leave those bulbs, but keep an eye on them as you say.
