New poster, grower for a while
I've been in love with orchids for a long time. I've grown them for a while and ultimately end up killing them because of bad care. Well, my wife threw away one because it wasnt blooming!!!
I'm determined to turn that around with the current two!
This forum is a great resource so far. Full of tons of information and great photos! Might start an addiction!

Here is my NOID Phal. It has white flowers with purple spots IIRC. It just started to grow a keiki about two weeks ago.
My other one is a orange color with reddish edges IIRC.
Neither had a bloom for very long after I got them but they still have really good green leafs so Im hoping they will start to flower with the temps dropping now.

the first picture has a terminal spike; it will flower and maybe produce keikis; keep the watering regimen and fertilizing weekly weakly...the second one has a keiki with no roots...it will be ready to twist and pluck if it forms 2 inches roots...
did the wife throw away the plant because it was dying or she just got fed up just cause it didnt bloom? its weird to throw away healthy orchids just cause it doesnt bloom yet...

They are both the same plant. lol The second one is not near as impressive as its just dark leaves as this point.
The spike has been there since I got it and the end 2-3" died almost instantly but it kept its flowers for about 3 weeks.
As for my wife, she just thought it was dead because it was done flowering. I was shocked when I got home and realized she had actually taken out the trash. The plant was gone.

Lots of people think they ate dead when the flowers fade. I work in a hospital and am constantly telling people that they will bloom again (mostly Phalaenopsis Hybrids). Many people are shocked by the news.
