Introducing myself - Orchid Board

Hi

My username is my real name and I live in Hertfordshire, UK where I've been growing a few orchids for 7 or 8 years now. Some have been really successful, some much less so, and it's one of the latter that has prompted me to join this group. I'm not fanatical about orchids; rather lackadaisical, if anything, which is probably not the best way to introduce myself to a bunch of enthusiasts! Sorry.

So now I'm going to post my query on the appropriate forum for Zygopedalums.

Regardless of what brought you here, I'm sure you'll find you like it! Everyone is happy to help answer questions and help with growing issues, so ask away!

You may think you're not fanatical now... but stick around for a little while - you'll see so many great things here, you'll just have to add them to your collection. Before you know it, you'll be just as addicted to orchids as the rest of us!

Welcome to the orchid Forum. Since you are lackadaisical about orchids, then perhaps you will help us to overcome our addiction and become the voice of reason here when one or 40 of us decide to go on a spending spree. And please don't take it as a joke as I am serious, our pockets seem to keep getting hit hard when it comes to orchids. Glad you were able to join us.

Thank you for the welcome. I am a LOTR fan, having read the book several times and really enjoyed the movies. I particularly like the quote I put in the title of my response.

Regarding the real interest of this site, I've not seen any posts about swapping plants. I know I've spent no time at all exploring the site, but presumably there's quite a bit of that goes on. I imagine there are restrictions regarding international swaps, but intra-national should be OK, I'd have thought. OK, I'll go exploring!

Yes, a few of our members have traded various times. I know I have. We have a few other members located in the UK and more in the EU, so you should be able to come up with a trade at some point. If you are looking for a trade, there is the trading forum here where you can post what you are looking for.
