Default New guy to Orchids

Im new to anything plants , so my experience with plants have been a long list of failures but just recently my wife brought a house plant so I was with her in this massive Green House and was tempted in buying an Orchid so we bought two , now being older now and kids almost out of the house I think I can manage this , so I have this big east window and the women at the store said it was a great place for them she was very helpful and told me that if I need any help phone or bring back the plant and she would work with me , I found that to be very helping for me , and her support really did lead me to buy my first orchids which she help me pick , so I guess I have one foot in the door I live in South San Fransisco ,Calif so if anyone for this area can help me thanks new friend

Hi! Congratulations on your first orchid purchases.

If you require help, first step is the proper identification of your orchid. It'd help tremendously if the orchid came with a name tag. If it didn't, that's fine - a general idea of what the orchid is will get you more than enough responses and help from the members here.

Posting photos are a big plus!

Other than that, welcome to the OB.

Btw, you'll be surprised what kinds of orchids you can easily grow outdoors over in San Francisco, CA. Not all orchids are warm growing, but this information is for another day...

California, good place for growing orchids. Lots of growers close by. Welcome! We'll have that window filled up in no time.
