orchid with rotten leaves

Hi I am new. i recently purchased an orchid. got no idea what it is but it has rounded leaves and a pink/purple flower with 3 petals. anyway one of the leaves has rotted. Unfortunately I pulled it off so can't post a photo but it was sort of cream and i guess it started rotting from the outer edge of the leaf as the base was still green. any suggestions on what is wrong with it and how I can fix it?

From your description I can't figure out what kind of orchid it is. Can you post a photo of the plant? It'll be really helpful to also see how the plant is doing.

I'm afraid like Camille I'm not sure what sort of orchid you have, pictures of the orchid will help know what sort it is and that's the best place to start in diagnosing if you have a problem or not.

Happy New Year , My orchids have no flowers at the moment, but they have been flowering for a good few months, cant wait for them to come back.
