Default Finaly breaking the Ice.

Hello all,

I have been lurking here since I got into the orchid hobby two years ago. I have finally decided to break the ice and join up!

Over the past two years my collection has grown from a big box Phal, to having close to 200 plants. I have also had great success with two flasks that I purchased around 8 months ago (I wanted a new challenge). A flask from Thailand (Paph. Spicerianum) yielded me with 40 healthy seedlings happily growing in compots of 5 plants. The other flask's seedlings (C. Aclanbantie x S. Tibicinis) are in compots with an unknown number in each pot, I will be dividing them up soon and planting 5 or so in each compot. Both have done exceptionally well (suprised me being as it was my first time deflasking and taking care of seedlings)

This website has been a huge help to me, I probably wont be posting a whole lot as I am still learning (I tend to keep my mouth shut unless I know exactly what I'm talking about.)

Looks like i'll be here for the long haul as my collection continues to grow.

Welcome aboard. That's quite a collection you've put together. I second the call for pics, when you have the chance.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! I actually was guessing with the 200 number, I counted them earlier, and ended up with 150 plus what ever is in the overgrown Catt compots (no idea how many plants).

I should have known that everyone would have wanted pics lol. I'll see if I can get some up soon. I actually just got my grow area set up like I wanted it. They are currently under florescent shop lights as the trees around my house don't let a whole lot of sun in the windows.

I have 95% of mine growing in S/H conditions and using Rays MSU type fert with them. Since the move to the new room, new lights, repotting, and new food, they seem to be really picking up!!

Keep in mind a good number of my plants came from a collection that was not taken care of and left for dead. Many of them are just starting to rebound so some of the plants don't look the best in the world.
