I'm a new member and have about three years experience with orchids(phals,dendrobiums). I just purchased a pacific red star (oncidium, i think) it's beautiful.can't wait to get some good advice and hear opinions .

Glad you found us! If you have had success with Phals and Dens, I think you should do great with Oncidiums.
I found an Oncidium (Odontocidium) Pacific Skies 'Red Star' - Aloha Orchid Nursery - Detail - perhaps this is the one you just got ?
General Oncidium care - don't allow media to dry completely, moderate light

Here is a link to the AOS care sheet for Oncidiums. As Sonya said I think if you do well with Dens & Phals then you should do well with Oncidiums.
