Hello from Edmonton, Canada!
hi,
I'm just a new grower. I have a few phals and a cymbidium. I'm excited to join the community. I am just wondering how to rebloom my cymbidium though.

Welcome Kevin from Canada! Lots of Canadians here. Have no clue on cymbidium, but others here do. Enjoy your stay here, 'cause this is a great place to hang out and ask questions, absorb answers, try new things, etc. Hope to see pics in the future?

Welcome Kevin! I too would like to know the answer to your question, but more specifically how to rebloom a cymbidium grown indoors since if I put them out, the raccoons will eat them.

Hi Kevin, welcome to the OB.
Even with just a few orchids, I hope you are a member of our local society (the Orchid Society of Alberta).
About that Cym, I have grow a few over the years. I move mine outside all summer in a morning sun/late afternoon sun location and gradually expose them to more light as they get used to it.
Feed them well, as they are heavy feeders. Water them well also.
Mine stay out in the Edmonton weather until it get real cool in the evenings and bring them in just before any frost action is a concern. I have had a few biten by frost and they did not really like it!
Move them into a bright indoor location and you should see some spikes emerging around spring.

Hey Kevin, welcome! I'm excited to see another member from Edmonton! I like to grow Cyms outside May to October (if possible), bringing inside when it gets under around 7 degrees or there is frost. You can probably leave them out when it's even colder than 7 but I don't risk it. The colder temps in fall set the flower spikes. Are you an OSA member? When I joined, it was one of the smartest things I ever did. Great people, great discussions, great plants!

Hey Kevin,
I agree with Dave's advice. I have my standard sized one outside right now. The great thing about cymbidiums is that they seem impossible to kill.
If you are growing a chinese typed cymbidium it can stay indoors year round with strong light. They don't require as deep as a temperature drop as the standard sized ones.
