I love the humid warm summers in your area but the snowstorms from the lakes is just a pesky shovelling chore.

Intro
Thank you for the warm welcome. I grow orchids under lights, mostly paphs, phrags, angraecum, oncidium etc. Lately starting to get into species. Because of our lovely weather, the choice is somewhat limited since I don't have a greenhouse.

The weather here in Chicago is the craziest thing, I agree. My sister gave me a dendrobium in the past. No matter what I did with that thing I couldn't make it bloom for several years, I gave up and left it out in the unheated covered back porch without food and water for an entire freezing winter. Imagine my surprise when i came out the following spring and see this thing with spikes all over it!
