Excited to be part of Orchid Board!
there everyone! Glad to be a new member of orchid board I have been successfully growing phal orchids for years and just bought myself a mounted orchid. I figured this would be the perfect time to seek expert advice and maximize my success with this plant.
I got a Trichocentrum tigrinum, mounted on a piece of wood, that I have placed in a S facing window (not directly in it, but near). I plan on watering it daily, though I'm not quite sure if I should be dunking it in a bucket water for half an hour, or just hosing it down with the faucet for a minute or so. I have also heard that these plants prefer to be drier in the winter, so I plan on cutting watering down then. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Orchid Board
I'm afraid I can't help with that orchid, just wanted to say hi, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
In general I water my mounts by dunking them in a bucket, plant, mount and all. If I want to fertilise I spray with fertiliser solution until they are dripping wet instead of the dunk. I tend to alternate which I do.

Me neither, can't help you with the culture of that orchid. I have several mounts, and they get dunked 10min every morning in a bucket of fertilized water. The ones with sphag under the roots may not need watering everyday, depends how fast they dry out.

Yasmin - Great little species you have there. It comes from S America and likes very bright light and can actually take some sun. During it's growing season it experiences lots of rain and then has a rather dry winter rest, I would not stop watering completely, I would water if the bulbs began to shrivel too much. As to how to water it, either way is fine as long as you make sure that the roots are fully saturated at each watering.
Welcome aboard, it's always nice to see new members who are eager to learn.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I am glad to hear that this orchid likes sun, as I have it in the brightest corner in my S facing home. Looking forward to learning and advancing my hobby, thanks so much for the reply!
Do you recommend fertilization often?

Yasmin - For most orchids I normally suggest weakly, weekly, that is 1/4 - 1/2 strenght fertilizer once a week.
