There's a few different options. But what worked for me was ... Total drunk of the unpotted plant - get rid of the older media, after the drunk spray in some mouthwash on the roots - Don't go nuts, just a few sprays. THEY don't like that much
Then just repot into fresh media of choice.
Welcome to the forum Billie, enjoy you're time here
Welcome and hello billie...were both junior members but I have grown orchids for the past 8 yrs...dont worry about ants, it can be daunting to see them among your plants but they eat the larvae of mites and other dead bugs and bring them to their colony...I would worry if the queen is inside one of your pots and creates a huge colony of swarming ants.
Thanks Bud ,your info eases my mind a little about the ants
I don't like to see ants because I've had experiences in the past where the ants will actually bring other pests such as aphids and scale to 'farm' them for the honeydew the pest insects produce. You'll want to keep an eye out for the pests if you have a lot of ants hanging around.
