My name is Joe and I am from Wisconsin, zone 5. I started in orchids 6 years ago and now have about 100 plants, paphs, phals, oncs, catts, vandas. I grow in the basement under 1000W MH HID lights. The gro room is 8' x 10' and have had luck blooming all of the genera listed above. Right now I have a stanhopea tigrina that will be blooming soon for the first time. I am really excited about this one because I started it from seed in Oct of 2001. I am a member of the Wisconsin Orchid Society, AOS, and Orchid Digest, where in the recent edition I saw an ad to join the Orchid Board. In the next few days I will be surfing the sight to see all that is available.

Wow! Welcome to the board Joe. We're glad you came over. One of these days you might want to share your setup with us and show us some photos. I am especially interested in basement growing under lights. I use t5 florescents.
