Welcome! If you don't mind my asking, what part of eastern Washington are you from? I live near Longview west of the mountains, but go to WSU in Pullman.
My collection definitely grew faster after joining OB, but I only have around 40 orchids as I grow on windowsills and have a large collection of houseplants as well. Speaking of which, be careful. These people don't just enable you to buy orchids!

Yakima
Hi Evan,
You don't have all those plants in a dorm room do you..., stranger things have happened. ha
I live in Yakima, I think we are a little warmer and drier than Pullman.
Houseplant horror story-
I was given a start of Hawaiian Ginger, grew it in premium soil, potted it on etc. until it was about 7' high (including the pot) and over 5' wide. I don't have very much room but was thrilled at the thought of lovely, fragrant flowers. It bloomed this spring, aaggh! The scent was so overpowering indoors it made my eyes swell, I think I could literally taste it. I had to cut off all the flowers.
Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome and for corrupting me, I think I have enough light for a Catt or two....Rainshadow

Not all of them...only about half. I may or may not have chosen my dorm room purely based on the health of my plants.
I drive through Yakima on the way to school. I think you're right, it is a bit warmer and drier, though Pullman is dry enough to my westside sensibilities.
Yikes, I'll have to remember not to grow Hawaiian ginger. I have the same problem with strong scents.
