Default Another newbie!

Hi Everyone,
I have to confess, I am another Orchid-Holic! I live in Perth, Western Australia.

My love for orchids began 10yrs ago, when I was the proud owner of 4 phalaenopsis. Unfortunately, I killed them all with too much TLC ie. water!

I have never bought another orchid after that traumatic experence. It has been a long time!

Never say never! Three months ago, I saw a Cattleya at my mum's house. It was love at first sight! I just couldn't resist! I had to forgive myself and start again!

Now, I have 8 Cattleyas, 15 native Australian dendrobiums and 2 dendrobium nobile. (Yep, I have been busy orchid shopping! )

I am happy to report that there are many spikes and buds in sight!

Anyway, I have overcomed my sorrows and life has taken on a new dimension with these potted goodies!

Oh, and you know what? I even got myself another pot of Phalaenopsis today from our local markets.

That is my life story for now!

Buds

p.s My mini black & tan dachshund says 'hello' to everyone! He is my little helper in the garden!

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I will try to take some pics, I am paticularly proud of my Aussie Dendrobiums (speciosum & kingianum). Some are in flower now! The also scented!
I managed to order a few from the eastern states before our extremely strict quaratine laws came in on 1st July. Importation of plants is now almost impossible and very expensive.
I can now only shop from two local orchid nurseries! It is most frustrating!
Will post pics soon!

Aboard Buds....great that you have over come the obvious hobby your heart desired It's great to have you hear and as wealth of information awaits you.

Sorry to hear about the import laws, but all is not lost noting you have a few local vendors in which you can purchase. Hopefully they will be able to get orchids of your liking, possibly you may ask if they can get certain ones for you...don't know, but would never hurt to ask.
