Pizza - Spaghetti - O Sole Mio : Italian Intro

Hi to all,

First of all, please excuse my English and correct me so I can learn a bit more.. My name's Gennaro, I come from a well known country: Italy. But I guess my nation is known more for bad things than for good ones, at least that is my impression.

I've been reading this great board for months, now I'm introducing myself.. (thanks to "Susanne B" suggestion )

Last 18th September my girlfriend gave me an Orchid, a beautiful white phalaenopsis hybrid. Now I'm addicted. My first thought in the morning is for my orchids.. I've been through all the standard orchid-addiction steps.. First I bought LECA to assure more humidity, then a mini-domestic green house, then more orchids (almost species), then I began reading more and more on orchids, I bought a book.. now my uncle is building for me two large orchidariums and a few days ago arrived my first RO unit! So far I've 15 orchids..

In this forum I've gained a lot of information about orchid growing, so thanks to all for writing such interesting things!!

I hope to learn a lot more and share my (little!!) experiece whit you, and improve my English by communicating with you.. and if I can say one last OT thing, I dream to live in USA!!!!!!! (but this will remain only a dream I guess....)

Welcome Gennaro! Your English is better than some people I hang around with You're doing just fine. Sounds like a wonderful setup. Care to show us pictures?

Lots of folks here use RO water to water orchids. One caution - RO water is "pure" water which means fertilizer you might buy at the market will not work well with it, the solution will be too acidic for orchids. As a precaution, find some pH raising chemical, that folks who have swimming pools will know about, and raise the pH to 7.0 using that chemical. That should help when using the off-the-shelf fertilizer. Can you get orchid fertilizer?
