oncidium sharry baby has no fragrance and is dropping flowers!

I just bought an onc. sharry baby 'sweet fragrance' from a very reputable dealer. It is so rootbound it is pitiful but I don't want to repot now as it has one full spike andd another half-grown spike. However I put it where it could get morning sun til about eleven a.m. The flowers are starting to drop off and there is absolutely no fragrance! What do I need to do? Thanks in advance for any help as I am a novice at this.

Pics would help. But some of it may be lack of water. I had an Onc that dropped buds when it wasn't watered enough. But, again tough to say.

I think my son-in-law has a camera and I will try to take a few pictures. In the meantime, thanks so much for your suggestion
