Default New here and hoping to learn more...

Hi...I'm new to the list, and you could probably say I'm new to orchids too. I've dabbled in orchids here and there for a long time, but I never have figured out how to grow them. Unfortunately, they all seem to have gone to orchid heaven.

I'm a medical transcriptionist by day and a new orchidor in my off time. I just recently bought my 2nd orchid, which I call 'NoName' becuase I have no clue what kind of orchid this one is. My 1st orchid (which I forgot the name of), I bought probably around September of last year, and I'm hoping I can get that one to bloom. I have no clue how to do that or whether it will this year, but..... at least it's still holding it's own. Both orchids are really beautiful and look really hardy. I guess there might be some hope for us right? lol

Glad to be a part of this board, and I hope I can figure all this out.

Nice to meet you all...

Aboard Sista...glad you posted....now that you have "broken the ice" the rest will come natural. The avatar is in the oncidium family and hope you will be able to come up with a name.

I let Sue know that you were my sister and will join in on the project...

The OB is a great place to hang and learn all you need to know about orchids and the best is that no question is to silly, just the one you don't ask...so ask away.

Still have your Dendrobium Chrisitina Princess for you...a few years away from bloomin' but a worthy wait.

Glad your here

Hey hey, just saw your s the one on the right is a denbrobium, they both look very healthy. If you can't come up with a name once they bloom, no reason why you can't come up with your own original name.

Cool Like you...

I am very new to this site and WOW!
Wasn't expecting the kind of "comraderie" that I have found here. In just the short time I have looked around AND posted, I have been able to better understand the addiction I now term "Orchidaeholism" (there is a post all about this subject in case you want to know more and seek help... ...the help center is your closest Nursery!).

Anyway once again and welcome...

The only stupid question, is the one not asked!

Mark

Cheryl -- do you remember a while back when you 1st told me about this board....you helped me look up an orchid. Do you remember what the name of that orchid was? That's the one pictured on the left. Is it that the leaves of a lot of orchids look the same and it's their blooks that distinquish the type of orchid it is?

Allen thought he remembered seeing the one pictured on the right at one point and thought it was a tiger something....does that sound familiar?

The one on the right has a bloom on it, and it's the only picture I have posted with the bloom...is that the Denbrobium?

I thought I would go on the 'identification forum' and see if someone there might be able to tell me.

later.....
