They really do grow quickly. I wouldn't prune them deliberately, but I was tempted when I wanted to try vase culture. Then I had some rot, but ended up with them in baskets anyway, because My husband made them for me. I'll try a seedling for the vase, the Gastrochilus loves it!

LOL I had to make the basket. It's a small metal basket, I cut holes out on it so i could fit the root to get a little support. it used to be a metal Potpourri basket.

My orchids roots seem like they are drying out i followed to where the drying ends and its close to the base of the plant where the roots start. It still has a few really small really thin roots and 3 or 4 this roots. I am spraying it 2 times daily morning and afternoon after i get back from work. How fast will other roots start to grow to replace the other roots.

Ive had to cut most of the roots the Vanda had. It had small cuts that unfortunately made the longer parts of the roots dry up. It still has a few root stumps that it has been getting the water from. It grew two new leaves that way but Can someone please help me with telling me how to make the plant grow new roots so that i dont have to be watering it every 2 hours during the hottest parts of the day?...

How fast the roots will grow varies quite a bit. Vanda girl tells me that when she got her new vasco seedling, new roots began to grow after only 2 weeks. I have a new seedling as well, and it barely has any root left. Ours are in vase culture, soaked once a week, [I soaked mine twice, the first week] and misted once or twice a day. I put a little root hormone and superthrive in the water the first time I soaked.
My adult vanda and asco that lost a lot of roots, grew new ones in just a few weeks, perhaps 3 or 4.
