Hi Willeke,
I like vandas too. I bought my first seedling last January
and since then have eight of them. I keep them in glass too. The little army of vanda seedlings is quickly taking over our house.
I have only one blooming size vanda, bought it two weeks ago at the show and scared to death to kill it .

I know what you mean. I'm just glad that my mother in law does live so close by. She did take of the orchids at her home, and she did water the garden once in a while. And the neighbour did take care of our goldfish and tropical fish. So that's no problem. But when you have so many animals I think it will be more of a problem.

Is the big Vanda already blooming, or is it only blooming size. My Big Vanda's are out of bloom right now. So I hope they will bloom soon. At this moment I have two little seedlings. Also in glasses. I like seedlings very much. It's just great to try to get them to bloom. So you already have eight of them. Well that's a lot. Wich ones do you have. When you spray it every day and soak it once a week and give it fertilizer once a week, you don't have to be scared to kill it I think. Good luck.

Thank you.
My large one is Roberts Delight 'Garnet beauty'. You can see picture here It is blooming size but i bought it out of bloom. It is barerooted in the hanging basket against the south-east window. I dunk it into bucket with water every morning.
The little ones in the glass are:
Vanda Bangkok Blue
Ascocenda Peggy Foo
Vascostylis Roll on Red
Ascocenda Princess Mikasa Pink
Vanda Rasri Gold
Mokara White Spot (not sure if it is her real name, supposed to be white with pink dots)
Vanda suavis
Vanda brunnea
My problem is - with every purchase my wish list grows
Good luck with your babies. I hope we will see the blooms some day...

Well that's a long list. The Ascocenda Peggy Foo I did hear of. That's a red one. I have seen it once. It's pretty. The Vanda Bangkok blue I have myself. I did win it with an auction on Ebay. I'm expecting it next week. The other ones I do not all know, But some of them I do. I know what you mean. My wish list is also still growing. It's to bad. You also good luck with the babies. Hope they bloom soon. Escpecially the one in blooming size. Show the pictures when it does. Take care of them.

Oh boy! I'm planning to wait about 2 more weeks until the last frost date is past, then buy! I'm going to have a look! Thanks.

I was looking at the orange vasco that the seller in France has, I think in November. Then he ran out, but now I will be tempted by both! I can't take the chance because they may not get here. I'll buy the crownfox red, and if it gets here, then I'll see!
Yours looks like it will be a beautiful scarlet colour!

Yes I can imagine you don't want to take the risk. My orchid did arrive o.k, but France to Canada is a longer way. And perhaps border control is more strict in Canada. My new one is orange with a little yellow. You can see it on the photo. It's very nice. Hope you can buy yours soon.

That is a gorgous colour! The pine river orange is a much lighter colour. In order to import plants to this country, we are supposed to have a certifiate, which usually costs $70 or more. The reason is supposed to be to protect food plants from disease. There is a simular stupid law that won't allow you to take your pet bird over the border, even though wild ones fly back and forth over it all the time!
