It's not possible to put them outside all of the time here either. It is too bad! I' thinking about getting some artificial lighting for next winter. We get very little sun here during the winter. We moved here from Ontario to escape the cold and snow, but we sometimes miss the sun in the winter. My bouganvillia used to bloom during the winter in Ontario, but it doesn't here.

I guess there is always something. Artificial light might help. If you moved to escape the cold and snow, then it's it bit of a shame that you have to miss the sun in winter. Especially for the Vanda's. Was your bouganvillia blooming then in the winter. That's pretty. I used to have a bouganvillia, but is just not sunny enough here. Now I have my Vanda's.

If you can grow vandas, you can grow bouganvillia. I cut mine back in the fall, and it started blooming again a few weeks ago. It is still blooning in the fall when I cut it back. I had my vanda next to a floor lamp all winter, and that must have helped, because it is in spike. It had a North window, with a west one not far away. Then, when thje sun started coming out, I moved them around to follow it.

I guess I could grow Bougainvillea. Althought my vanda's take in all the space. It's just great that your Vanda is in spike again. I did buy my Vanda's in bloom. So I have to wait a while. I think the lamp did help. And perhaps that you put it in front of the other window.

We are planning to switch our bedroom with my studio, which would give me a south facing window that I can use next winter, and I'll add some lighting as well. My husband has to break through a wall to do it, because there is only one tiny closet in my studio, so he has to create a big one for the bedroom. The extra light alone will be worth it! But, I'm not the one that's doing the work.

You're very lucky with him I think. That he is willing to do that. So you can have more Vanda's then. That will be nice. That will give a lot of work when he has to break down a wall and build a closet. I think it will be nice.

It actually ended up by being more work than expected. There was drywall, then planks, then more drywall. Not as simple as we thought! The orchids are worth it, at least to me! But I'm not the one doing most of the work. But I will have a huge cleaning job.

So that mmust be a terrible job. The wall was thicker than you thought. Ofcourse the orchids ae worth it. I guess you're glad that you don't have to do it. Although you have to do the cleaning. Ands that's also a lot of work. The Vanda's have been outside the whole day here. The weather is still very nice. A bit do dry actually. There has been very little rain for almost 2 months now. So we have to water the garden a lot. That.s a lot of work ofcourse.

It's dry like that here during summer too. We have lots of garden to water, which can be a pain if you want to go away for a while. I have to ask "will you please feed my bird, rabbit, koi, and water the orchids and garden?" As well as take the dog to my brothers. Maybe it's just as well that we don't go away much!

Nancy,
This seller in France listed today bunch of new vandas and there are few vascostylis, in particular - crownfox red.
I am drooling over pine river orange, since I already have roll on red seedling.
