When you can buy one close to you it's better ofcourse. Then it does'nt have to travel such a long way. Brownish Burgandy is not my favourite as well. Deep red is nicer. I like happy deep colors. I've seen the mokara on Ebay. That,s a nice red color. Let's hope that you get lucky at your own Vanda seller.

I'm hoping! It would also likely be an older plant if I buy from here.

Can't you ask him if it's an older or a young plant. The one's from Ebay are young plants. Still seedlings. When it's an older plant you might get problems with putting in a vase. My seedling I did put in a glass. Because they still very small. So that does'nt take a lot of space. Only that won't take long when there growing well.

He buys his plants from Thailand, and they are usually pretty big. The 2 I got from him were grown bare root, and in order to grow in a basket, I had to soak the roots and kind of bundle them up. The plants didn't like it at first, but are now growing well and have new roots coming.
If I buy a big one from him again, perhaps I will get a Mokara from ebay

A big plant is more difficult to put in to a vase. Perhaps when you soak the plant. Then you can bend the roots more easily. When you buy a big one from him, are you also buying the mokara then. It's a nice color. But the vasco Kultana red is also nice I think. There are still so many nice one's I like to have. Especially on Ebay. Only the space is limited. So that's a problem.

If I get the big one, it will have to go in a basket. Then I will buy the Mokara seedling for the vase. It's a good excuse to buy it, don't you think? I find it easier to find places to put hanging plants than on window sills. I also find that they tend to have less problems with scale. But vase culture just makes so much sense for seedlings. It gets them off to a good start.

Well my big one's are doing well in the vases. They are getting new roots and new leaves. Although it is certainly a good excuse to buy more plants. I just don't have place for hanging baskets. I like it with the hanging roots, but I just don't have the space for it. That's why I like the seedlings. They don't need so much space.

It is just so hard to fit the roots in vases when they get larger! I have a small greenhouse where I could put the vase for the summer. Then it can be hot during the day but cool at night.

So you have a greenhouse. Lucky you. Can't you put the big one outside in summer. The only problem is that you have to take it inside when it's raining. Although I can imagine that it will get very hot in a greenhouse in summer. That can also be a problem I guess. I must admit that I would love to have a greenhouse. It gives me more space to grow Vandeaceos orchids. I like that.

My Greenhouse is a very small plastic one [ 2 meters wide]and doesn't seal very well. I leave the vent and the door open during the day if it's hot, but it does help to keep the humidity high and keeps them a little warmer at night, which can be a problem here. I would love to have a big one that is heated during the winter!
