Nice to hear that it's doing well. An experiment is fun, but it's more fun when everything is going well. Good for you that he loves it.

Aren't there any seedlings from a red Vascostylis then. I can imagine the big ones must be difficult. Most of them have to many roots to fit in to a vase. I did notice that they have one on the German Ebay, but that is in France. So that's a bit difficult. So good luck with finding one.

They are difficult to find here. I have someone working on it for me. I have been watching that ebay seller in France, and I may risk buying a seedling from him when it warms up. We are supposed to have certificates to import them, but it might make it through. His prices are good. Are you growing any Mokara? I'm wondering how easy they are to flower.

No I dont have any Mokara. But I noticed that he has a Vascostylis Kultana red. I did win a Vanda from him not so long ago on a auction. And it was looking well. The vendor in Germany doesn't have it in red only in yellow and another color. But shipping it to Canada might give a problem.

I might try risking it, since it is so little money. I tried an experiment last year and bought one from Thailand, and one from Spain. Both made it here, but unfortuately, it was too cold by then and they froze. I know these laws are to protect crops from disease, but some times they go a bit far.

Yes I have seen a program once on border control, but that was in Australia. They are also very strict. It's not to cold any more, so that's no problem. And the price is nice. So it's worth trying it perhaps. The one I got from him was nice. It's to bad that the vendor in Germany doesn't have it in red. France is not so far as Thailand, so that's better. Good luck. Keep me posted.

Willeke.

It has warmed up in our part of Canada, but I think that it would have to travel across the country before it gets here, and on the East side it can still be below freezing at night. I'll wait a few weeks, and hope he hasn't sold them all. I had my eye on his Vasco Roll on red, but they were all sold over the winter. I'll let you know what happens.

Yes when it's still freezing at night it's better to wait a while. Otherwise it gets frozen. The one that you mentioned I don't know about. The Vasco Kultana red he has got for a long time now. So let's hope he still got it in a few weeks. Good luck with it.

Kultana red id the one I'm planning on getting, unless the vanda guy here on the Island finds me one soon. I was all set to order one from a place here in BC., but when he sent me the photo, It was a brownish burgandy, not true red. Kultana red is almost as nice as the Roll on red was, but more the colour of the Mokara on ebay.
