Hello everyone!
Default Hello everyone!

Hello!

My name is Louis and I have been interested in orchids for the last five years or so. I do not grow any right now because I have recently moved to Spain, but I am always seeking them in the wild. I will post photos of the orchids I have found in the wild in North America, South America, and Europe. I will also surely be getting more plants when I return to the USA and ill post those too!

Until then I take great joy in reading about other peoples experience and continue to learn from looking at photos and reading advice and info from people on the forum.

See you around!

Welcome!
Me too, I love taking pics of orchids out in their natural habitat. Orchid season is coming up soon in Europe, can't wait to go out and hunt for them.

Welcome to the OB Louis. It's a great way to get a virtual orchid fix while you are in Spain. Any idea what orchids are native to your area of the country?

We are in for a treat if I can manage to find some!
Ophrys is probably one of the most notable genus. If anyone has not heard of this genus i suggest you Google a photo because they are stunning and intriguing to boot!

See for yourself at this amazing 100 page PDF book fully illustrated with maps and flower/plant photos. It is amazing resource and its totally free for all to download. Its in Spanish but the photos are great!

retamatour.com - Proyecto Orquídea - index.

Its soooo nice to have such a guide because for many countries there is no such luxury, and for the tropics there is just too many species to make a complete guide like this.
