Hi JPC,
I'm not sure about places in cochin. I primarily get them from trivandrum (that too couriered. never been there). There is Sobha orchids in Thrissur. Probably couple of hrs from there. They have a website as well: SOBHA ORCHIDS, KERALA, INDIA - Buy Orchids & Anthuriums in India. Are you driving or going by other means?

Hi Sathish,
Thanks some good information - quite happy to note that they get couriered to Blr. How was experience so far with these vendors ? and mode of payments etc., ?. I'd appreciate if you could share some info, thank you. If you find it time consuming to type it all, I could telephone you as well; if so, pls provide me a number that I could reach you at. Thanks again.
Sathish / Discus,
I have posted a pic of my Gigantea here (ORCHID DISCUSSIONS>Identification Forum>Rhy. Gigantea) to inquire about its health. Satish - whats your opinion of the plant in Blr climate ?.
Regards,
Prabhu

Guys,
Its great I found some Indians here, I opened a thread to find Indians, and Rosie C said she has seen some Indians.
I am presently residing in Delhi, and its almost impossible to find good orchid products in India. Better to import with the help of frnds.
For Pesticide to keep gnats away I use chlorpyrifos (not directly on orchids, but around the area where i keep orchids) on bonsais and other, I had a bad exp Melathin powder.
By the way, from where you guys buy orchids?
I have a vendor in Delhi (he imports from China & Thailand, but do not posses extensive knowledge on Orchids), and one from Kerala.
Kerala vendor minimum order is Rs.8000/- . They are very professional and I am waiting for my second order to be received.

He did not have more variates, but he has more in bulk, he do not send via post.
Cattleya, Dendrobium, Vanda, Phal (rare, and this time I got a diseased Phal), and Gramatophylum (He sells as Oncidium). I was able to get some Huge Vandas.
By the way what orchids do u have? Any vendor who sends via courier? I am in search of Fragrant Phals and rare collections. I presently have blooming size Dend(12) Catt(3) Phal (8) Grammy(3), Vanda(8). And Ordered 15 more from Sobha orchids. Do u gave any uncommon ones? I feel Grammy(gramatophylum) is the rare one I have.
