Connie, that exhibit is my all time favorite...Highly inspirational... makes me feel that perfection is obtainable with perseverance.. really beyond amazing to me in so many ways from the passion to accuracy to the love of nature in the beautiful documentation through glass... I've been multiple times and that whole place (HMNH) is truly awesome!
I do sell my glass orchids but i don't make them regularly...the ones I posted are pretty much the only ones I did so far. i've been meaning to make more, and to get them far more realistic

Nice glass work. They kind of look like a combination of orchids.
Sometimes they look like Thelymitras, sometimes they look like Cymbidiums.
Other times they look like a mix of Paphiopedilums and Cymbidiums.
Pretty cool interpretations of orchids.

Not all of them, it depends on which species or type you're talking about. The requirements can be specific to the kinds of orchids you're interested in knowing about.
The kinds of orchids you can grow are limited by your skill level and/or the conditions of your growing area(s).
Also be aware of the climate in your part of Southern California. If you're somewhere in Ventura County, there might be some situations in regards to climate and weather that may surprise you, particularly if you're new to that area.
This may sound pretty self explanatory, but...it's not always sunny in Southern California, however, there are times when it's way too sunny in Southern California...
The climate where I'm at might be radically different from where you're at, even if Ventura County is Los Angeles County's neighbor.
I've only visited Ventura a few times for work purposes, but have never lived there, so I don't exactly know what it's like there. But from what I've heard from my friends of the neighboring cities on the border of Los Angeles County and Ventura County, it's not like how it is down here in terms of climate.
