Hi all - new to the board
but not new to orchids. I've been growing orchids for years and have a 20x24 ft GH in my yard. I started off growing Phals and Catts, moved to species (mostly), moved to Miltoniopsis, and am now focusing on Odontoglossums. When I say Odonts I mean the large colorful Odontoglossum and Odontioda hybrids (mostly, I grow some species and intergenerics too). It seems like hardly anyone grows these any more, even here in the SF Bay area which is a great climate for Odonts. It's a shame really, Odonts have so much to offer in terms of color, shape, number of flowers, etc. I think their real downfall is that they don't really grow great under the (fairly warm) conditions used by the big commercial growers in Hawaii.
I'd definitely like to hear from other Odont growers.
See my signature for a link to my FlickR orchid set. These are are photos of my orchids. I started the set in Nov 2010, so this set currently encompasses the about 3 months of blooms.
