New year, new member.. and a new problem with my phal! - Orchid Board

Hello everybody at orchid board.

I am having to join under some sad circumstances..
I just got back from a lovely, four week trip to South Africa and Namibia and had a friendly neighbor take care of my orchids. Well needless to say that some of them don't seem to be doing too good.

The one that I am most worried about is a noid Phal that happens to be my first one.
This was not the way I would have wanted to start off my time here at Orchid Board but maybe this problem of mine was just the kick I needed to finally join!
So here I am and thanks for having me!
(I'll post a new thread about my problem with pictures in pests & diseases)

I also joined OB after coming back from a holiday and finding my orchid almost dead. It's not really a bad reason to join... and it was OB that started my addiction

Rosie -> I figured that this was a good excuse to join.

I'd like to think that my orchids missed me too much and that thats why they weren't looking too good when I returned. I've given my phal some "loving" and I think it might pull through.

I just got back from a 6 week trip and despite leaving explicit instructions on their care, have had rotted leaves, dry pseudobulbs and fungus!

I have always found something to help on here and lurked for ageeeeees before joining up a few days ago.

Thanks for the good vibes OrchidObsessed! 6 weeks trip, sounds wonderful! Where did you go? I see you have two wonderful cats, how did they manage while you were gone? I wish I could get a cat.. or dog, but right now its just me and my 10 orchids.
