Hi everyone, my name's Damelza... Female
Smile Hi everyone!

Was surfing the net on anything and everything about orchids and stumbled upon this treasure chest!

I live in Singapore and caught the orchid bug about three years ago. Orchidophilia seems to be hereditary in my family...

The bug hit me when I accidentally killed my dad's gorgeous dens. (I didn't mean to kill them, of course) Since then, I've killed three dens and someone stole another.

So as you can tell, I love them but still have so much to learn about these beauties. I trust I've come to the right place. My orchids have a future!!

Today, I have nine orchids. Tomorrow, who knows?
1. Dendrobium (Thong Chai Green)
2. Dendrobium (Sakda Blue)
3. Dendrobium (Mother Theresa)
4. Dendrobium (Unknown)
5. Mini Den (Unknown)
6. Mini Den (Unknown)
7. Oncidium Sharry Baby
8. Aranda (Chark Kuan Blue Horizon)
9. Miltassia Aztec

I love, love orchids and I want more, more, more...

I foresee many hours on this forum...

Great to be here!

Need I say more? Dens aren't killed by the growers, they just die! There are a few of us here that swear that these evil plants do this to cause all sorts of problems with the growers. I have been known as a dendro killer (as have a couple others). But that isn't true. It's not my care that killed the stupid plant, it's the requirements that are impossible to meet!

Hi and welcome to Orchidboard

We're happy to have you here with us and we'd love to see some pictures of your 'chids

Don't worry about those you've killed...it just leaves room for more

Dens seem to have gotten a bad reputation but I can tell you from experience...they can be grown successfully

Spending hours on this board is just another layer of our addiction...and it's one that we love!

Aboard, it's great that you have dug up your treasure. We have a fun board with a wealth of information awaiting you. Yep dends have had a bad rap, but as I look at it, some we kill some we just can not figure out...think of them as a bratty child. All kidding aside I find dends challening and if I can get them beyond the pouting stages than they are successful. Some of our members have the dend thumb one that I am jealous of.

Sounds like you have a wonderful collection goin' on, got s...we love s.

Glad your here

Hi and welcome to the forum. Glad you could join us!
Ok I admit dens are a bit much at times, I don't think of them as being
evil
More like Shifty!
You just gotta find the right ones.
I didn't see your list of slippers - now where are those?

Enjoy your time here at the forum

Thanks for such a warm welcome.

Ross, to be completely honest, I killed my dad's dens by putting them in soil! I just thought my dad was doing it all wrong. He almost killed me because he grew those buggers from plantlings...

My dad and late grandad had the den thumb for sure. Their Den orchids are just always blooming.

I hope I'll get the thumb eventually too. (With all the help I can get from this site, of course)
