Hi Cheryl,

I just took some shots of my orchids after reading your post but my boyfriend left the camera cable in the office so it'll have to wait 'til Monday.

Smile Welcome!

Glad you can join us here at OB!
There is a plethora of info and the best orchid people on the net here!

I have a little dendro laevifolium and so far so good ..
I don't think dendros as being evil so much as being ... oh ... temperamental ..
Poor things seem to always get a bum rap ..
For all dendro owners, hang in there and just keep on trying ..

I plan to come to Singapore in 2011 to judge with the WOC that year.......;-)

Looking forward to it!

You sure seem to like those Dendrobiums. I applaud you in your determination. Welcome to the Orchid Board.

Ross, to be completely honest, I killed my dad's dens by putting them in soil! I just thought my dad was doing it all wrong. He almost killed me because he grew those buggers from plantlings...

My dad and late grandad had the den thumb for sure. Their Den orchids are just always blooming.

I hope I'll get the thumb eventually too. (With all the help I can get from this site, of course)
You put them in the soil?? ROTFL!! That's hilarious!

Funny thing is, lotsa orchids grow in soil naturally. It's a natural assumption to make, I think. If one doesn't know about the weird (in my opinion) needs/desires) of most orchids, it seems natural to assume soil for the plants. I've seen Dendros planted in crooks and crannies in palm trees and in soil in Hawaii, so I don't find this assumption all that much out of the ordinary. But Dendros, being Dendros, I really think they just up and croaked!
