Default Bloom but NO spike...

everyone here!.....
I am a visitor from another forum where I didn't get the answer to my Q's.
Just wondering if someone on this forum can help...
I have this Paph. Oberhausens Diamant (Paph. primulinum x Paph. sanderianum). This is his first bloom ever. He didn't grow a spike........ for some reason. Maybe someone here can tell me if I can hope at least maybe next time he blooms he will be able to grow a spike, or it's just a genetic problem and is not going to be corrected ever.....Maybe I did something wrong.......

I have many other Paphs that are doing fine. I wanted this one to bloom soooooo badly, and now I am worried if I ever going to see his healthy bloom.....
Thank you everyone.

I can't tell you why this is happening but I know sometimes they don't emerge from the crown. You will have to wait until it flowers again to see if this is something with this plant or just this flower couldn't muster enough energy to get up there. The picture is of one of my bull dog paphs trying to bloom now but it ain't gonna make this time! Good luck next time around.

Sorry to hear of your problem and I hope mine doesn't do that when it blooms (if it blooms)!

Hi Jonada,
Yours should be fine. Not all of them do that. You always take some risk by buying chids out of blooming.
You are on this forum too!
I am 'orchidea'. I didn't get the answers on this other forum, not even from Kevin....., so I was checking around.....

That happens every now and then. I've been told it was more common in sanderianum hybrids, such as yours.
