Just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Gabor, or Gabe which is easier to pronounce! I'm from Windsor, Ontario, and lately my wife and I have grown to like orchids. However anywhere we look there are only the one or two of the same species are sold. So on the encouragement of Marty I joined the board in search of knowledge about these beautiful flowers, as well as, hopefully a few different kind of them as well!
We would be interested finding a few MINI cateleya, bulbophyllums, phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilum, and Oncidium. We are strapped for space, however as we understand most orchids come in a miniature form as well, and that will be perfect for us!

Minis are great. Orchids in general are very addicting. Welcome to the board. I have bought many from online vendors and ebay vendors. Some have some really great plants. Good luck with the new hobby!

Welcome, Gabe. I hope you can find some information to help you here. A good starting point would be to find out if you have a local orchid society. If you do, those meetings would be one of the best places to get information about what does well in your area. Good Luck and Happy New Year.

Welcome to Orchid Board! All of us were newbies at one time. I still think of myself as a newbie; I've been raising orchids for less than 2 years, and without OB they would not be as healthy as they are.

Welcome to Orchid Board.

Being in the UK I can't recomend any of the growers I use, but I know of two in Canada which have been mentioned to here on Orchid Board before. Don't know what they are like.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I know of a couple of growers in my area, ( Zephyrus Orchids being one of them! ), and there is a society in my city, which I am planning to get in contact with. However it being in the middle of the hollyday season I am reluctant to bother anyone just yet! So I just wanted to do a bit of research and ask some questions on the board here!

Actually I was born in the old Yugoslavia! In a small Hungarian village! However I am fluent in the language!
