Wink Hi there

Hello to all ! My name Is Michele I live in a little town south for salt lake city utah. I have three orchids (had four till one died on me I was so sad!) I have lots of kids and even more animals and plants. I have a luck when it comes to plants they just work real good for me! Eveyone said I was crazy for trying to grow orchid in the desert but I did it now for 3 years! When the one bloomed I had a small get together for lunch and put it on the table so all could see and eat thier words. Now everyone wants me to help them grow some I love it! Now they are all looking for the almost dead plant in the back to save (told them it had to do with the plant being thankful I saved it). Well happy flowering all !
Michele

Hi Michele and welcome to Orchidboard

Cool story We have a rather new member here who lives in Nevada...growing orchids!!! I was stunned to hear that but it just shows that if you provide the conditions they want, these plants will constantly reward you

What 'chids do you have? We'd love to see a few

If you have any questions, let us know...you've just made over 1000 new friends!

Aboard Michelle, its great that you have found the OB, a fun place to be and will learn so much. Growing orchids is a challenge in any enviroment and you have proved it to be so "in the desert". It's great that your here...see you around the OB...

Hi, Welcome

Great story

One thing that I really don't like is when people constantly say that orchids are very sensitive and being so they give up!

If we care enough to take the time and attention we always have great surprises.

Can you grow anything in a desert? Yes? Then it's settled. You can grow anything in a desert.

Welcome aboard Michelle. Actually we have a few others here that also grow under desert conditions. I am happy for your success and sounds like you had an interesting party. Do it again when the others bloom!

I am all in awe! I must have the opposite of your growing conditions! A temperate climate and chilly winds/ frost in winter. And yet we can all grow orchids! Ain't life wonderful? Judi
