Hello From Washington state!
Default Hello From Washington state!

Hey Orchid board,
I am an enthusiast of all biological life strange and unique. I am currently a college student studying biology, debating wether to major in herpetology, or botany. I'm good at it all

I currently have one Maxillaria Neglecta (at least as far as i can tell), it hasnt grown in over a year and a half, until the past 2 months. It has 2 grasslike leaves each attached to their own pseudobulb. and TWO NEW SHOOTS! I am so excited. I will admit, I smuggled it home after finding it washed up on the beach in Costa Rica. my bad, but I technically rescued it. Does anyone have a photo of one in bloom? I would love to see what I have here??

I also have a phalaenopsis, and a reed stem Epidendrum who shares the same pot as my Maxillaria.

thanks!
-S

I hope to keep expanding my collection of all

Hi Saided

Congrats on the new shoots, it's obviously been sulking for a while! I don't know about that variety, but my Max seems to do ok with intermediate temps and bright/ dappled light (never direct sun). Well, let's put it this way, I'm assuming that's what it likes as it's got 3 new p/bulbs developing!

Happy growing (and collecting!)

Where in Washington, if I may ask? Anywhere near the northwest corner? We have a society you might be interested in and several other growers in the area.

Hey, that really great- we live in Lynden. The local society meets in the Burlington area on the fourth Tuesday of every month - if you'd like to go let me know. Wouldn't be out of the way at all to pick you up. I grow miniatures under lights indoors and wouldlove to show you my plants sometime.
