Default Introductions.

Since I am sort of new to this site, I think it would be a good idea for a lot of people to get to know each other. I think this would work best if we start off by kinda going through how long we have been in the orchid hobby, how many chids we have, and our favorite orchid species. This would help a lot of us because we would be able to know who to go to if we need to ask a specific question.
So I guess I will start. My name is Cody, and I just turned 15, I have been interested in plants for as long as I can remember, but have just recently "renewed" my interest in orchids conveniently a week before my birthday arrived, and for a present from my brother, I got a C. Loddiaca and bought a Slc. Jeweller's Gem. I say renewed because I have bought orchids before, but they died because we moved in the middle of a Canadian winter.
I am interested in the Cattleya alliance, and am very interested in creating hybrid orchids and I think it would be very nice to own my own orchid greenhouse so I could sell to the public!
Now it is your turn!

Hi Cody and welcome to Orchid Board

I've grown mostly Phals since arround 2007 but I'm branching out into others now including Paphs, Dens, and a few others, and have just got my first Masdavallia bloom opened this morning (I'll be posting pics once I take some).

I don't consider myself an expert in any of them though It can generally be best to ask any questions of the forum in general because otherwise the person you ask might either not be arround or not know. If you ask on the forum you might get lots of different opinions which is always good to see how different people have different experiences.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and as you read more and more here you'll soon pick up who is the expert in what. Note that lots of posts does not make someone an expert... take me for example, I post a LOT but I'm not an expert in any sence, just really really addicted to OB

Welcome to the Orchid Board, Getting started at such a young age is great. You can search from our menu to find almost anything you want to know. Since we have almost 16,000 members there's always someone who knows all you have to do is ask.
We have shared a lot of information over the years and you can research any member and their posts that you would like. The gallery is super.
Enjoy yourself and keep up the good work.

Hi Cody and welcome to the board. You are so lucky to have found this hobby/obsession in your teens. I just started in June and have 15 phals with 6 arriving this week. Oh and the Massachusetts Orchid Society is having its annual auction on Tuesday. Uh oh...
